The volume saved is equivalent to 4,000 Olympic swimming pools or feeding Niagara Falls for more than an hour. With the Environment Agency forecasting a national shortfall of nearly five billion litres per day by 2055, Wave’s contribution is positioned as a significant step towards long-term water resilience.
Alongside supporting water efficiency, Wave reported progress in several areas over the past year:
- Saved 3.1 million kg of CO2 emissions
- Completed 2,068 volunteering hours at 11 community events
- Replaced almost 260,000 paper bills with e-billing
- Achieved an 82% employee engagement score
- Launched a legionella monitoring trial with technology partner Infersens
The company also relocated its Peterborough office, downsizing to a newly refurbished energy-efficient site with low-carbon heating and lighting systems, saving 22 tonnes of CO2e and diverting 12 tonnes of waste.
“With growing demand on water resources, and the recent Cunliffe Review bringing a renewed spotlight on companies to deliver on their commitments, the water industry is currently navigating a period of significant change. I am incredibly proud that we’ve exceeded our objectives, working with our people, wholesalers, customers and communities to make a real difference to our planet.”
